CSU Piat has completed its distribution of 33,580 milk packs to the different elementary schools in Piat, Rizal, Sto. Niño, and Tuao last Monday as part of the School-Based Feeding program of the Schools Division of Cagayan.
In November last year, CSU through its Dairy Cattle Research and Development Center bagged a 604,440-worth of contract with the National Dairy Authority for the supply and delivery of milk packs to elementary schools.
CSU has agreed to supply and deliver the said number of packs of 200 ml pasteurized fresh milk in the implementation of the milk component of the SBF program. NDA has agreed to pay the aforementioned sum.
A total of 1,679 kindergarten and undernourished children were the beneficiaries of the said program.
The pasteurized milk was processed using the equipment provided by the Department of Science and Technology and produced according to formulation and standards set by the NDA and passed the required quality and safety tests conducted by DOST.
As the feeding program is expected to continue amid pandemic, another contract is expected to be forged this 2021 between NDA and CSU for the same purpose.
Milk feeding program is a component of the National Feeding Program established under the Republic Act 11037 also known as “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino” to provide a school-based feeding program and milk feeding program among others to undernourished children in public daycare centers, kindergarten, and elementary school.
